One of the few drawbacks of this great game we all enjoy is the simple fact that we have to carry our equipment around with us. It is hard to find a golf bag that will actively improve your game, meaning that the choice of golf bag is up to your individual likes and needs.
Unfortunately unless you are currently on the pro tour, you won't have a caddy that carries you bag for every round you play, so choosing a bag is based on how you play the game.
Prices and features on golf bags vary vastly. It's has been a long time since golfers expected a bag to just carry their clubs, a few spare balls and last week's smelly waterproofs.
The following information will let you know what golf bags are available and what the benefits and drawbacks are of each.
Types Of Golf Bags For Clubs
Carry Bag
The most basic and common type of golf bag is certainly the carry bag. Relatively simple, it is a typical slim-line bag that is carried round the course (range between 5 to 8.5 inches in diameter and can weigh as little as 3.5lbs).
The options in this category are endless. All top manufacturers produce quality carry bags. Almost all carry bags now will have a double strap that will equally divide the weight of your bag over both shoulders to make the bag feel as comfortable as possible. One of the lightest types of bags, this bag will not cost you a lot and will do the job extremely well.
Pencil Bags or Sunday Bags
These are another type of carry bag that has become very popular. These bags are extremely lightweight, thinner versions of a carry bag, but still offer up to a 6 inch diameter top and can hold up to 14 clubs easily.
They are very slim line in design and therefore very easy to store in a locker or car. Great for golf on a warm, dry day they are very light, but offer very little protection in rain.
Stand Bag
Very similar in size to a carry bag, the stand bag has the added feature of a stand to hold your bag of the ground when resting. The two legs under the bag will spring out when the bag is placed on the ground, meaning your bag stands nicely at your side. This keeps your bag from getting dirty and also makes it easier to put bag and take out clubs.
It is important when choosing a stand bag to check the stability of the stand with the base of the bag. Quality of stands varies in different bags and this is crucial to discover which bags may be prone to falling over in wind. You may pay slightly more for a stand bag than a carry bag, but this is a nice and popular feature to have in a golf bag.
Cart Bag
A cart bag is designed specifically to be carried on a golf cart or buggy. Aimed towards older golfers or lady golfers, the bag will be fairly large but fit comfortably onto an electric or push trolley (commonly 9 x 9.5 inches).
Again, with many variations from different manufacturers, the cart bag will have many pockets to offer extra carrying space for the player who desires added room for waterproofs, valuables, covers, balls etc. The pockets will tend to be on one side of the bag to offer easy access to a player when using a bag mounted on a cart. The cart bag is also much more rigid than a carry/stand bag.
Often with a plastic/rigid inner lining they are hardwearing and offer a good degree of water resistance. Typically more expensive than a carry bag, it is an idea bag for a player using a cart/trolley or buggy.
Tour Bag
The largest type of bag is the tour bag, usually around 10 inches in diameter (and weighing up to 45lbs). So called due to the use of the bag by tour professionals. You may have noticed the size of professional's bags and the strength of tour caddies to be able to lug it round a 5 hour round.
The bag is very large (approximately 9inches or more), to accommodate the large amount of space that tour players require for extra clothing, waterproofs, gloves, refreshments, balls etc.
Not recommeded for a player wishing to carry his/her own clubs, the comparatively expensive bag will however suit a trolley, offer more carrying capacity and add that professional look to your game.
Travel Bag
Many of us enjoy a golfing break across the country or abroad. The golf travel bag is designed to carry your golf bag whilst you travel. You place your normal golf bag inside the large padded cover whilst will protect your bag in transit.
Many different travel bags are now available and you may have to choose between a hard or soft cased one. The hard case one is solid on the outside and heavier than other travel bags you will find, but will offer protection that is second to none. The soft travel bag will be padded and still offer great protection but in a lightweight alternative.
When deciding between a hard or soft case travel bag, you must decide the bag's purpose. The hard bag is extremely rigid and will not fit easily into the back of many cars, but they are great for the less than gentle airline baggage handlers. The soft case is more suited towards storage and will be more 'hire-car friendly' than a hard case. It is also worth having a travel bag that has wheels, to make it easier to cart around an airport or hotel.
Tips On How To Buy A Golf Bag
There is seemingly no end to the variety and styles of golf bags that are available for sale these days. There is something out there for just about every kind of golfer imaginable. And choosing the right golf bag is an important decision, as it will be carrying some very expensive equipment for you as you play.
So what should you be looking for if you are in the market for a new golf bag? Well first and foremost, it must be able to competently carry and handle the golf equipment that you have. The next consideration is how light and portable the golf bag is. So let's take a look at the various kinds of golf bags that are available and see what you can expect from each one.
Golf bags today come in an incredible variety of sizes and the very largest bags tend to be the most expensive too. They often will have a brand logo on the side and can be very fancy affairs. These are often referred to as staff bags. They very easily handle the number of clubs that most people take with them on the golf course, as well as almost any other kind and accessory that you can imagine. You'll usually find plenty of storage space in several pockets located all over the outside of the bag.
However, the big drawback to these large bags is their size and weight if you intend on carrying your bag around the course. All you have to do is just try to carry a bag this size through one round of golf and you'll understand why most walkers prefer a lighter bag. They can work very well though if carried on a motorized golf cart instead, but they may overwhelm a pull behind cart.
The next size down in golf bags are often referred to as cart bags and they are generally smaller, lighter, and easier to handle than the large staff bags are. They still usually have plenty of storage space for all of your golf equipment and for your most important golf accessories as well. They also will work well on a motorized golf cart, or even on a pull behind cart. These bags may also be carried on the course, but you'll need to be in pretty good shape to carry it for the entire round. Some cart bags are now also coming with built in stands that allow you to prop the bag up if you are carrying it, which is a nice feature.
Another type of golf bag is the extremely lightweight kind that is really only meant to carry enough golf clubs for the round, a few balls and tees, and not much else. They are usually made out of extremely light material, either cloth or another lightweight fabric, and these bags can often be carried around the course fairly easily. But in using these kind of bags you do sacrifice storage space.
Regardless of which bag you choose you want to be sure to protect your golf equipment while it is in the bag. This is best done by buying a good set of clubhead protectors to keep your clubs from damaging each other as they move around in the bag. Another good suggestion for protection of your clubs in the golf bag is having plastic shaft covers to keep your shafts from clanging against each other as the bag is transported.
So there are plenty of selections to choose from when you want to buy a new golf bag. Just review the tips listed above to help you make the right decision on which golf bag will work best for you.

Here are the top three best best golf shoes in terms of comfort which have golfers raving across the nation.
Health Tips for Buying best best golf shoes
As someone who really likes to write about health, I was challenged recently when a friend asked me how I would pick a pair of best best golf shoes that were most beneficial to my health.
I hadn't thought much about it but a little research shows that it is an issue worth investigating.
According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, 43 million Americans per year suffer from foot-related health issues, costing $3.5 billion in treatment and lost workdays.
The average golfer will spend 4 - 6 hours on the golf course each time he or she plays, walking on typically hilly terrain. Adequate foot comfort during this time is a must as there is a lot of potential here for feet, ankles and back to become strained due to ill-fitting shoes, particularly in older players.
Ultimately, safe and protective footwear will reflect on your game too. Experts have stated that the game of golf begins from the feet. According to Jack Nicklaus: "All timing, distance, and direction comes out of the lower body with the feet leading the way".
Choosing best best golf shoes has become harder over time. 15 years ago we were restricted mainly to "traditional" models (brogues or similar). Nowadays there are all sorts of variations, from boots to sandals.
How do you know which golf shoe will be right for you, and also best for you feet, your back as well as your swing?
Here are some tips for getting the healthiest best best golf shoes for you:
Take your time when trying potential new best golf shoes on. Allow yourself time to walk around in the pro store. Don't be embarrassed to spend 5 minutes or more feeling the fit of a pair of shoes.
Some people advise that you come to shop following a 20 minute walk when your feet are fully expanded. Certainly, it is better to shop in the afternoon, than in the morning, for this reason.
When trying shoes, wear the same thickness of sock that you would on a golf course. Failure to do this could result in shoes that tighter or looser than normal, which could cause blisters or sore feet.
Try on both shoes, wearing golf socks. Lace fully and walk about to assess comfort.
If you've had ankle problems you might want to try one of the new high-top models that give more ankle support. However, bear in mind that you need to be able to swing out and around your shoes, at the ankle. So you need to ensure that such shoes won't impede your movement.
Do you have one foot markedly larger than the other? You could investigate a range of shoes by High-Tec created to address this. With these models, you can adapt the fit of each shoe to suit the shape of each foot.
Do you wear orthoses in your regular shoes? Then remember to transfer them to your best golf shoes if your podiatrist has recommended this.
Finally, if a round of golf leaves you with painful feet, first assess the fit of your shoes. Consider changing to more supportive, stable footwear. If the pain persists and does so for more than 3 consecutive rounds, consider visiting a podiatric sports physician.
The right golf shoe should let you stay comfortable through your round and help you concentrate on your game. If you can go through several rounds without noticing your feet, the shoes are doing their job.

Choosing the Right Discount Golf Balls
Home » Sitemap » discount golf balls
There is nothing worse for golfers than wasting a good swing. Maybe it was a perfect drive on the range right before tee off. Maybe it was that perfect practice swing. Or maybe, just maybe, you wasted a good swing because your discount golf balls was not suited for the situation, or was piece of junk altogether.
I see far too many instances where a player uses the wrong type of ball. They might have the Great Big Bertha, some space age composite irons, or even the fancy wing-tipped shoes, but if the discount golf balls does not suit the player or the circumstance, then the overall outcome of the shot will be adversely affected.
There are essentially three types of balls: balata, two-piece, or a combination of both. Basically, there are two things to consider when choosing the correct ball:
1. What are you looking for?
Are you a low handicap looking for ultimate spin and control? If so, choose a balata. This is essentially just a softer ball, which has a softer cover and allows for more spin. This is what Tiger and a lot of the big boys play (They are also quite a bit more expensive). If you are a higher handicap, you will be looking more for distance and durability. This is where a good two-piece ball will be best. This ball has a harder cover, and hence creates less backspin, which allows for you to hit it farther.
2. The elements?
It's important to look at things like the weather and the course conditions when choosing a ball. If, say, the course has been deluged with rain, then you will need a ball that will travel farther and produces less spin. If you are playing on a rock hard, sun-scorched track, choose something softer that will land soft and spin.
Also, keep in mind things like the temperature. If it's cold out, the ball will not compress as much, so you would want to play a 90-compression. (there are two compressions for men, 90 and 100.) Vice-versa if it's hot out.
Best Beginner Discount Golf Balls
The market is saturated with all kinds of discount golf balls to choose from. You have X balls, hot balls, ladies balls, and numerous others that are available. Then there is price. How much are you willing to spend? So if you are a beginner you may be wondering how to simply choose the right kind of ball for you. Which discount golf balls is the best?
A stronger golfer will usually compress the discount golf balls so they should choose a higher compression ball. On the other hand a weaker golfer should pick a softer compression discount golf balls. A good rule of thumb is the higher priced discount discount golf balls are made for better players and lower priced discount golf balls are designed more for slower swing speeds and beginners.
However, picking a discount golf balls can still be very confusing when trying to determine 'the right discount golf balls for ME!' Especially when you come to find out that last year over a thousand models of discount golf balls were produced! WOW!! So here is an experiment that you can try to choose the best discount golf balls.
Buyer's Guide Balls
This year, discount golf balls fall within a wide price range, from the highly affordable Top-Flite D2+ series ($16/dozen) to the premium Dixon Fire balls ($75/dozen). Or $1.33 per ball versus $6.25 per ball.
Of course, the price of a ball often corresponds to its quality and performance, although these days, many so-called "midrange" balls perform so well, you might confuse them for premium offerings. (And if you're a mid-handicapper, they might be just what you need.)
To find the ball that's right for you, buy a few sleeves and give them a spin. Only then will you know which one is right for your game.

Whether you are completely novice golfer or a more experienced player looking to become a successful tournament player, we have useful golf tips and strategies to help you learn how to play golf, shoot lower scores and reduce your golf handicap and become as good as you choose to be.
Learning how to swing a golf club and how to play golf well can be one the most challenging things anyone can learn. There are many golf swing tips that you can follow but it is important to follow simple approaches that you can apply to help you play better and to improve your golf swing. Often the simplest golf swing is also the most effective at hitting the ball farther and straighter.
1. Best Golf Swing - The Grip
The grip is the foundation of your golf swing and developing the right grip is critical to your success in hitting the ball farther and straighter. There are many different grips out there that you can use. Here are few common grip types:
The Interlocking Grip
With this grip the index finger of the left hand and the little finger of the right hand combine and interlock. It is commonly used by those that have thick hands, or shorter hands. This grip is usually the best option for most people and will allow you to create proper leverage for maximum power.
The Overlapping Grip
This grip involves having the little finger of the right hand sit on top of the index finger of the left hand. This grip is used by most male golfers because it does require strong wrists and forearms.
The Baseball Grip
With this grip the index finger of the left hand and the little finger of the right hand do not overlap but do make contact with each other. This is usually the default grip for most beginners or golfers with weaker arm and wrist strength. You probably do not want to keep using this grip as the interlocking or overlapping will work better in most cases.
2. Best Golf Swing- The Stance
The ideal stance is to have your weight equally balanced. It is important to stay relaxed over the golf ball as any tension will affect the quality of your golf swing so make sure to follow this important golf tip. You want to bend at the hips when addressing the golf balls and have a slight flex in the knees also. In addition keeping the spine erect and not rounded is important.
Let your arms hang naturally once you bend your hips, avoid extending your arms straight as there should be an angle between the arms and the shaft.
3. Best Golf Swing - The Backswing
Keep the left arm straight (right handed players) during the backswing and go back as far as you can. Your tempo is dictated really by your personality, some people are naturally slow movers so will have a slower tempo while others tend to move faster so do what is most comfortable for you.
4. Best Golf Swing- The Downswing
One of the key elements in the downswing is to keep your head in the same position. Begin your downswing with the hips and keep your head behind the ball until your follow through. Do not use your right hand to try to generate more power. The power in your golf swing will come from the leverage in the angle between the club and your wrists. Try to hold the angle between the clubs and the wrists as much as possible in order to generate maximum power.
Do not rush the downswing as this will usually result in poor shots and inconsistency. You want to have a gradually increasing speed on the downswing and make sure that you have good balance and swing well within yourself. Do not try to muscle the club or swing hard, just make a smooth and controlled movement and you will find that this will help you to hit the ball solidly on a regular basis.
5. The Follow Through
After impact you want the club to fully release while keeping your head behind the ball. Your head should naturally come up with your right shoulder, so your chin should be over your right shoulder and your head facing the target to complete the follow through.
Remember to have some patience when learning the golf swing, go to the range and practice your swing without hitting any golf balls to start and then as you feel more comfortable with your swing you can start hitting a few balls.
Use these golf swing tips to practice your swing on the range for a few days, maybe even a couple of weeks until you are comfortable before you go out to the golf course. Remember to relax and focus on your targets when you are on the course and try to avoid thinking about swing mechanics on the golf course, rather focus on trusting and believing in your game

What is the Longest Golf Ball?
Home » Sitemap » longest golf ball
Everyone is looking for that elusive few extra yards off the tee. People look in two places for those yards. They pickup a new driver with the latest technology, like the DoubleWall Driver from Pinemeadow Golf or a new golf ball that will just fly off the tee. Most people opt for the more inexpensive of these options and try to find a long off the tee golf ball. A long golf ball is the holy grail of golf ball development. Yet many things can factor into how far a golf ball will go.
The longest golf ball for someone with a slow to moderate swing speed may be different than someone with a Tiger Woods like out of this world swing speed. If you are just looking for pure distance then the longest golf ball is going to be one of the illegal golf balls. These balls do not conform to the rules of golf, but will turn the weekend hacker into Tiger Woods or Hank Kuehne off the tee.
There are many factors that go into what would be the longest golf ball for you. The basic distance golf ball like the Top-Flite XL is going to give any golfer distance of the tee. For a golfer with a slow to moderate club head speed, the longest golf ball for you would be a low compression golf ball like the Titleist DT SoLo or the Precept Laddie Xtreme. For moderate to fast club head speed, the distance golf ball of choice might be the Titleist NXTicon or NXT Touricon. If you have a Tiger Woods like swing speed, then you will get plenty of distance and playability from the Nike One Platinum or Titleist Pro V1xicon.
You also need to remember that increasing your distance off the tee is not necessarily the best way to cut strokes off your golf game. As, Dave Pelz says in his Short Game Bible you need to work on your golf game from 100yds and in. Getting the ball on the green and close to the hole is probably more important than adding 10yds to your tee shot. Who cares how far you can hit it if it takes you 4 or more strokes to get on the green and once you are there you are too far away from the cup to have a chance to sink the putt. In my opinion you probably should work on your short game, then get your putting down, and then worry about the longest golf balls and your distance off the tee.
THE LONGEST STRAIGHTEST GOLF BALL
Generally we want our longest distance golf ball to also be our longest straightest golf ball. Our drives should wind up in the same zip code as the golf course we teed off on, and.....be in the short grass.
Most of the really long drives that I hit require me to use 'Deep-Woods Off' before even looking for my golf ball.
Most distance balls are:
1. high compression (90-100+)
2. 2-3 piece
3. good back-spin
4. reduced side-spin
LONGEST GOLF BALL FUN FACTS
The longest golf drive with one hand is 282 yards by Cristian Sterning of Sweden at St. Andrews, June 18, 2005.
The longest carry was 458 yards by Jack Hamm, July 20, 1993 at Highlands Ranch in Colorado.
The longest drive in a PGA event was 515 yards by Mike Austin (then 64)on Seprember 5, 1974 in the US Seniors Open at Winterwood Golf Course in Las Vegas.
The Guinness World Record longest drive was 684 yards by Kelly Murray on September 25, 1990 in Fairmont, British Columbia. The drive was on an airstrip, 30 yards wide.
